I am not a big tofu eater, but this spread is worth trying. This recipe is a modified version of one from a magazine. I tested the original version but later I simply did not have some ingredients and I can say that even the simple version tastes great.
You need:
organic smoked tofu (about 250 g) – cut into cubes
1 onion (medium) – chopped
a piece of wakame seaweed (about 7x7cm) – put into cold water (1dl) for about 5 minutes
1 small red chilli – deseeded and sliced
olive oil
a bit of soy sauce (optional)
Heat 2 tbs of the oil in a saucepan, fry the onions until translucent, add the tofu cubes plus chilli and continue frying. After a few minutes add the seaweed together with the water it was in and cook for 5-7 minutes. Take a stick mixer and blend it to a smooth paste. Check the seasoning and add a bit of the soy sauce – if you like. You can add some herbs – chives or whatever your preference.
The original magazine version had roasted and ground walnuts plus nut oil, so try that too if you feel like it.
