Red lentils and cabbage

cabbage lentilsThis is a very simple dish with Indian spices. It is pretty fast to make, satisfying and inexpensive.

For 2 portions you will need:

400g cabbage – sliced and cut into nice bite sizes
1,5 dl red lentils
1 onion – halved and sliced
1 tsp cumin
1 tsp turmeric
2 tsp garam masala
vegetable oil
salt

In a big nonstick pan, sauté the onions and cabbage with cumin. When they soften and start to lose the raw colour, add the lentils and spices. Pour in some water (about 1dl), cover and let it cook on medium heat for some minutes. Check and add more water if necesary until the lentils are cooked (they take about 10 minutes). Season and serve.
