This is a creamy soup with potatoes, mushrooms and dill from the Czech Republic. It's very satisfying, even for a carnivore;-) I love the earthy flavours of it and it reminds me of home.

I guess it is pretty natural to crave the most basic things when you live abroad. This is one of the things I sometimes miss in Finland. Everybody in the Czech Republic knows them. When they are freshly baked, they are delicious with just a bit of butter, or butter and honey. Kids like to put some chocolate spread on top.

This is the closest bread to the one I like having back home in the Czech Republic made in regular oven. The most important piece of equipment here is a round or an oval-shaped oven dish which also has a lid (about 23cm in diameter).
This is my version of a pretty typical Czech dish. It's easy, tasty, nutritious and cheap. You don't need fresh spinach for this one, it actually works really well with frozen shredded spinach cubes.

This gingerbread is my modified version of what people often make in the Czech Republic during Christmas. It's pretty simple, but you can experiment with the spicing. Just do not put more honey, they would get hard:-)
